Once a WhatsApp template is submitted for approval, you canβt change it directly. But donβt worry β Flowbee.io makes it easy to rebuild or clone a template with your updates. Here’s how to do it the right way.
πΉ Why Templates Canβt Be Edited Directly #
WhatsApp doesnβt allow editing of templates that are already:
- Approved β
- Pending β³
Even a small change (like a typo fix or emoji swap) requires a new submission.
βοΈ So How Do You Make Changes? #
You have two simple options:
β Option 1: Clone and Modify #
- Go to Templates > Your Templates
- Find the template you want to update
- Click the Clone icon (π)
- A copy of the template will open
- Update the message content, media, buttons, or variables
- Give it a new template name (e.g.,
summer_offer_v2
) - Click Save to submit it for WhatsApp approval
π This is the recommended method β fast, easy, and keeps your original template intact.
β Option 2: Delete and Recreate (If Rejected or Unused) #
If the original template was:
- β Rejected, or
- You haven’t used it yet,
You can:
- Click the Delete icon (ποΈ)
- Start fresh by clicking + New Template
- Rebuild it with the changes you need
- Submit it again for approval
π§ Naming Tip #
Give your new version a slightly different name:
- Instead of
offer_june
, useoffer_june_v2
- This helps WhatsApp treat it as a new submission and makes version tracking easier for your team
π Where to See the New Template #
- After saving, your new version will appear under Your Templates
- The status will show:
- β Approved
- β³ Pending
- β Rejected
